Minister Eamon O’Cuiv TD launched Robert Redmonds new book – Achill Voices – on the 24th of October at 6:30PM in the Filmbase Center in Curved Street, Temple Bar, D2.
RTE came to Achill in July for a 3 day shoot with Robert about his new book.

Producer was Mary Fanning, cameraman was Enda O’Byrne.
The filming started on the Atlantic drive and went on to Keem Bay where the Baskin shark was caught.
We then went to Dugort to the Golden Beach and the Silver Beach.

We visited the bar known as The Pub for a music session organized by Des Cafferkey, his dad Michael John sung a song about Achill.
Then it was on to Gieltys bar where we met Michael and Marty McNamara who are the two characters on the back of the book and a great night was had by all.

During the trip various interviews with some of the people in the book were done for RTE1 by Mary Fanning and the photographs were re-enacted by Robert for the film.
One of the nationwide complete shows comes from Achill in September.
Program comes out on Monday the 3rd of September.
